Flowers (and parents) make a big difference...

My incredibly generous parents made another trip to South Carolina the week of Memorial Day, and I cannot believe how much we were able to accomplish while they were here for less than a week!  Seriously, my mom and dad are workhorses, and I couldn't even force them to take a break to go to the beach (believe me, I tried)!  We appreciate their help more than words can express, and it was truly a joy to have them here in our home again.

One of the biggest projects of the week was planting some flowers and changing the mulch in our flowerbeds.  I thought the difficult part was going to be planting the flowers, but I was so wrong.  The biggest challenge was trying to decide which flowers to plant!  Our builder started the flowerbeds with some basic landscaping, so I just wanted to add some colorful flowers to fill in the empty space.  I can't even remember how many hours we spent in the local nursery, Home Depot nursery and Lowes nursery...but trust me when I say it was a ton.  There were way too many choices, and I am very particular so I was overwhelmed to say the least.  Thankfully, my parents were patient and helpful, we managed to make some good decisions and I am very pleased with the results.  Of course, all of our landscaping is new so it can't compete with mature landscaping, but I look forward to watching everything grow over the next few years.  Also, I must confess that after my mom and I decided where to place all of the flowers, my dad did about 99% of the actual planting and mulch replacing while my mom and I worked on projects inside the house.  Thanks again, Mom & Dad!  The flowers look lovely!

Two Fabulous Friends

Kimmy and Amanda came all the way from Oklahoma and Texas to visit at the end of April/beginning of May!  We had a whirlwind couple of days together seeing downtown Savannah, relaxing at a beach on Hilton Head Island, shopping the outlets and of course, chatting nonstop about life, love, and everything else along the way.  We have been close friends for so many years (about 16 years now!), and I have to say that the comfort found in old friends is such a rich blessing.

I did not carry my big ol' camera around while we explored, but thankfully Amanda brought her camera so we have some photos to remember this fun girls' weekend.  K & A, thank you again for taking the time and making the effort to come here!  It was such a treat to have you in our home.

(Note: You can click on each photo to see a larger version of the photo.)

One of my favorite pics - I love these girls and those trees are so beautiful!

Kimmy's impromptu commercial shoot at B&D Burgers during lunch - this was right up her alley!  I'm still waiting to see the finished product on FB or TV.

Had to take a photo in this square. :)

Kimmy and I making pretty difficult decisions. ;)

Had to take a pic in this unusual tree on our way to Coligny Beach.

The beach is just the perfect place to relax.

2011 MCAS Beaufort Air Show

Well readers, I know it's been about two months since my last post...so it's very likely that I have even fewer readers now, but I'm going to try and make up for it with a bunch of posts in the upcoming week.  I'll start with some photos of an incredible event I experienced on April 30th - the MCAS Beaufort Air Show.  WOW.  It was incredible, and I have over 700 photos to prove it!  Don't worry though, I narrowed them down to thirty something for this post so that you can get a glimpse of what I saw.  I only wish that I had video to post along with these photos, so that you could see the amazing speed at which these jets fly as well as the loud noise they make!  Enjoy...and if you ever have the chance to see the Blue Angels perform, definitely GO see them!
